Sherman L. Helton Jr. is the oldest child of Rev. Dr. Sherman & Pamela Helton Sr. He is a lifelong Memphian who graduated from Hamilton High School, matriculated through Tennessee State University, and has a Biblical Studies degree from Lancaster Bible College. Pastor Helton has been the pastor of Magnolia First Baptist Church since the Fall of 2022.

Pastor S.L. Helton Jr. believes that strong churches have strong families and strong families have great relationships. Those relationships encompass great communication, being accountable & responsible for each other. That is the gift & calling that the Holy Spirit has given to Pastor Helton. With 20-plus years of ministry from pastoring, teaching, and developing new ministries. Pastor Helton seeks God’s Face in every aspect of his life.

He is a father of two sons, Ethan and Kaiden; a lover of sports and fitness as well as grilling and travelling. He is a foodie and dessert lover (His mom’s caramel cake & sweet potato casserole), but most importantly, he is a Child of God whose favorite scripture is " Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  - Ephesians 3:20
